Leader: I will guard my ways that I may not sin
with my tongue. I will keep a muzzle on my mouth as long as the wicked are in my
presence.
People: I was silent and still. I held my peace to no avail. My distress grew
worse. My heart became hot within me.
Leader: While I mused, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue.
People: Lord, let me know my end, and what is the measure of my days. Let me
know how fleeting my life is.
Leader: You have made my days a few handbreadths.
My lifetime is as nothing in your sight. Surely everyone stands as a
mere breath.
People: O Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you. Deliver me
from all my transgressions. Do not make me the scorn of the fool.
Heavenly Father, You created us with a mind and heart that
understands justice, for we feel a sense of unfairness when we are
offended. Help us know when we need to remain silent in the face of
personal offenses. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we might speak
correctly and effectively to right wrongs in our world. Help us to
understand the infinite value of living for You each day and
conforming our lives to Your word. Help us walk more closely to our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ so we do not lose sight of His leading,
even as we pray in Jesus’ name: “Our Father. . .”
We recommend these books by our pastor:
Prayer Steps to
Serenity: Daily Quiet Time Edition and
Prayer Steps to
Serenity the Twelve Steps Journey: New Serenity Prayer Edition. We sponsor

for use in any home, church, or fellowship.
